The fenced play area and toilets will be closed during the autumn term while a new accessible facility for younger children is installed.
In the meantime, please enjoy the rest of the rec and watch the diggers in action!
Crowds gathered at the Morgan Rec to celebrate the opening of a new outdoor gym. Award winning Team GB tumbling gymnast, Keren Trainer, cut the ribbon to mark the occasion along with Crowthorne Parish Council's chair, Councillor Peter Wood.
Quite a crowd gathered for a fitting celebration for the new gym outdoor gym at the Mogan rec, Crowthorne.
There are 7 adjustable pieces of equipment in total, ideal for a complete workout for those either new to exercise or just after a change of gym scenery - and it's all FREE!
The adjustable arm and conventional bike, both with views across the rec, will be popular.

The new gym contains 7 pieces of equipment to provide a good workout for those either new to exercise or wanting a change of gym scenery.
You can download the free KOMPAN Outdoor Fitness App for exercises and workouts. These come with video descriptions and are especially designed for this gym, and your ability. Once you are feeling confident, you can start your workout! Why not use the track for a warm up walk or jog?
Join us on Friday 13th February at 15:30 to be one of the first to use the gym and to get free gym and exercise advice, a new water bottle and energy bar, and meet members of Team GB!
More than 1000 people turned out to commemorate D Day 80 at the Morgan Rec: the young, old, serving personnel, veterans and Gurkha veterans, all to remember those that fought valiantly and sacrificed their lives for us.
Events started at 9am with councillors and staff raising the flag, along with others around the country, to commemorate 80 years since the start of the allied campaign to liberate Europe.
Then straight after school, droves of families and care home residents arrived to see wartime models, have an ice cream, enjoy a singalong with the Wildmoor Heath School choir and admire WWII inspired artwork, on the giant LED screen. The video played, created using the pictures from more than 250 local school children, was kindly produced by Box Bear Digital Ltd and can be seen on the CPC website.
Councillor Bob Wade said "We have been overwhelmed with both the quality and quantity of the entries. It is clear that the children took great care over these and thought about the event we are remembering." Mrs West, Executive Head of Oaklands School, along with some of her students, collected £200 prize money, after entering the most pictures.
After much deliberation, the WWII film Dunkirk (12) was picked for the free evening screening. The spontaneous round of applause as the credits rolled proved how poignant and fitting the film was, reminding us all of the horrors of war. It was certainly sobering but fortunately the Vintage Belles and the Crowthorne Musical Players were on hand to lift the mood and entertain the crowd with WWII song lyrics displayed on screen so everyone could join in. The event closed with the National Tribute, last post and the beacon lighting ceremony.
Cllr Jeff Allen said “We thought very carefully about what sort of tree to plant and decided on a field maple. This is Britian’s only native maple, it turns a lovely colour in the autumn and is a valuable nectar source in April and May for our pollinators. It likes well drained soil, which we have at the rec, and supports a broad range of native insects which in turn feed our local birds.”
On Coronation Day in 2023, villagers braved the weather to watch the coronation live on a giant TV screen in the rec. Many also entered the poetry, front garden or crown making competitions and received some excellent prizes for their efforts from local businesses. Sadly, the memories of the coronation in the pouring rain will fade so it is great to plant our maple, to help us remember this important event for the next 200 years, or so.

Crowthorne Parish Council were joined by Edgbarrow School, Finchampstead FC and local residents to celebrate the installation of the new sports area at the Morgan Rec which has already proved popular over the summer holidays.
Crowthorne Parish Councillor, Tina McKenzie-Boyle welcomed more than 150 people to the Morgan Rec. She said “This is a fantastic new, free facility for Crowthorne – it's accessible, local and inspires everyone to get out, keep moving and stay healthy. It is a great addition to the rec; brilliant for youngsters and adults alike.”
Before cutting the ribbon, Mr Matthews, Edgbarrow Head teacher, reminded students that physical activity is great for both head and heart. He said “It boosts energy, and improves both mental health and concentration levels - perfect for getting all that school work completed!
Pupils from Wildmoor Heath School, and The Ark and Crowthorne Preschool joined Bracknell Mayor, Councillor Naheed Ejaz and former cricketer Iain Sutcliffe at the Morgan Rec to celebrate the official opening of the new exercise track. Cllr Ejaz said "It is a great new facility for Crowthorne - ideal for families with little ones learning to ride bikes and scooters. It is a brilliant location for having some outdoor fun and exercise then popping into the High Street for some shopping."
The track is just as suitable for the new novice exerciser as it is for those that are already active. Just three laps clocks up 1km, and 5 laps is about a mile so it is easy to incorporate into your daily activities or an exercise routine.
