In a Joint Statement
Cllr Mrs Dorothy Hayes MBE, Bracknell Forest Council’s Executive Member for Environment and Chairman of the Joint Waste Disposal Board, Cllr Sophia James, Reading Borough Council’s Lead Councillor for Neighbourhoods & Communities and Cllr Parry Batth, Wokingham Borough Council’s Executive Member for Environment and Leisure, commented:
“We are very pleased that we are extending our services to provide small local traders with an affordable route to dispose of their commercial waste responsibly. We are hoping that business people such as local gardeners, plumbers, tilers or landlords will be attracted to the new service and use the re3 facilities to fulfil their duty of care and maximise the recycling of their customers’ waste. We are certain that the affordable pay structure will encourage local traders to consider this service and that the limited number of places on the trial will allow us to fully assess the impact on resident services.”
re3 is inviting small local businesses to take part in a trade waste disposal and recycling trial at the re3 Recycling Centres. As of November, any pre-approved businesses will be able to take full advantage of the convenient local facilities to dispose of their commercial waste and maximise recycling.
The new trade waste service is available to micro-sized businesses operating in the re3 area of Bracknell Forest, Reading and Wokingham Borough Councils who produce small amounts of waste of a similar nature to householders.
The key benefits include
- Access to the re3 sites in Reading and Bracknell, Monday – Saturday, at the standard opening times
- A convenient payment structure based on estimated weights and charges per bag
- The opportunity to recycle as much of your business waste as possible locally and at affordable rates, including depositing many recyclables free of charge
- Fulfilment of Duty of Care and waste carrier licence responsibilities to ensure small business waste is managed compliantly
