Crowthorne Parish Council
Litter Collection in Crowthorne Parish
Since the 25 January 2018, our Litter Warden has been out and about in the Parish collecting waste and recycling. The first month of litter collection has been extremely successful, hopefully you have noticed that Crowthorne is already looking much cleaner in the areas shown below: -
- Crowthorne High Street (Inc former Rogers Way)
- Dukes Ride (Crowthorne Station to Prince Pub)
- Lower Broadmoor Road
- Waterloo Road
- Millennium Garden
- Wellington Road
From the 25 January to 16 February 2018, the following amount of litter and recycling has been collected: -
- 9 full 120 litre bags of general waste = 1,080 litres in total
- 7 full 80 litre bags of recycling waste = 560 litres in total.
The Parish Council will be continuing with this initiative, so if you see any locations within Crowthorne Parish which require attention please email the location and details to: litter@crowthorne-
An average of approximately 1x120 litre Bag of General Rubbish (6240 annually!) and ½ x 80 Litre Bag of recycling (2080 annually!) are cleared weekly by Parish Council staff.
We are also fortunate to have a member of the public who has recently ‘adopted’ their street and litter picks it with loan Parish Council litter picking equipment.
The Parish Council has recently applied for a grant for additional litter picking equipment and hopes to have additional loan kit soon. If you would be interested in litter picking your street please get in touch on 01344 771251 or email the Clerk on clerk@crowthorne-
The Parish Council is also hugely grateful to C.R.O.W. (Crowthorne Reduce Our Waste) who litter pick different areas of the village weekly and organise ‘big litter picks’ for the whole community too.
Everyone working together is making a considerable difference to the amounts of litter we are seeing. The local schools are also involved with C.R.O.W. and we hope that by providing education about litter and pollution that we will see a reduction in ‘littering’ and an increase in ‘recycling’ in the coming years.
