Circle Hill & Walter Recreation Ground
Circle Hill & Walter Recreation Ground
These sites are situated on the boundary between Crowthorne and Wokingham Without Parish. Whereas the Walter Rec is open, Circle Hill boasts some beautifully established trees which form a dense tree canopy across much of the site.

You can see the tree covered sites as islands amongst the houses, to north of the High Street in the satellite image.
Both sites are important wildlife habitats, acting as refuges and wildlife corridors in this suburban area. They both house a healthy abundance of bird life which are dependent on the diverse insects and seeds present.
In January 2023, a volunteer carried out a bird survey as part of the Big Garden Bird Watch and counted 17 species in the hour. This included nut hatch, tree creeper, dunnock, wren, red kite and even a firecrest.
There is no doubt that these sites are great for a jog, dog walk, nature adventure or as a cut through to the village but why not take a seat next time you are there, and enjoy the surrounding flora and fauna?
