Crowthorne Parish Council (CPC) was delighted to welcome 27 local groups and organisations to its Annual Parish Meeting on Tuesday 17 March 2026. CPC’s Chair, Cllr Peter Wood, was joined by the Mayor of the Borough of Bracknell Forest, Cllr Janet Cochrane, to hand out grants for their invaluable community work benefiting Crowthorne residents. In total, CPC awarded an amazing £20,850.00!
A representative of each organisation gave a brief presentation about how their grant award will be used.
Guest keynote speakers had also been invited to speak at the meeting. Guest speakers included: Des Sussex, the Biodiversity and Conservation Manager at the Crown Estate, who spoke about sustainability and nature recovery work across the Windsor Estate; and Linda Kilvert, Chairman of Crowthorne Carnival who spoke about the Carnival through the years accompanied by a wide selection of historic photos.

Councillor Peter Wood was joined by award winning Team GB tumbling gymnast, Keren Trainer, to officially open the new outdoor gym at the Morgan Rec.
Councillor Wood said "The gym is a brilliant new facility for our Rec and promises to be very popular with the community. The crowd here today have been impressed with the adjustable equipment. It comes with a brilliant app too which can provide exercises and workouts designed especially for the site and your ability."
We are the local Youth Work Team from The Wayz Youth Centre. Our team will ALWAYS be branded in uniform and hold ID badges on them. We are pleased to be working in partnership with Crowthorne Parish Council, who fully to commit to young people within the local community and our approach to street-based youth work. As part of our work, we liaise with services to support the safety, engagement and opportunities for young people in Crowthorne.
Our focus is to be within the community and speak to young people without the use of a building or activity and takes place where young people "are at" both geographically and developmentally. It delivers informal and social education and addresses whatever needs are presented to or perceived by the youth worker. As part of this we will also run a range of activities for young people as well as create trips and events.
- Education and encourage both young people and the community to recognise this and promote this understanding being demonstrated across those communities through behaviours, perceptions and experiences.
- Connect and engage with young people away from centres, within their own community, a place where they are familiar and more comfortable.
- Detached youth work is like and approached work, where the engagement is voluntary. Engagement, respect and relationships will develop over time and it is important establish positive relationships and often work at the interest and pace of the group or individuals.
- Being a bridge between young people and community or partner-based opportunities for them to engage in.
- Identify the individual and collective needs of young people within that area and promote and empower a positive youth voice.
- Challenge behaviour of young people and through discussion and reflection promote social education and understanding for the young people. It is the role of the worker to encourage positive engagement and potentially mediate between Young People and local agencies and police to prevent negative labelling and behaviours occurring or developing. In December, landlord Jay and Crowthorne Parish Council chairman Cllr Bob Wade, inspected the village’s sixth defib and fourth bleed kit, both of which are available to all 24/7.
Bob said "We are very lucky to have this. It is fully automatic so anyone can have a go and be confident that they can do no harm. I urge anyone that lives or works in the area to make sure they know where this amazing box of kit is, so they are ready in the event of an emergency."

Bracknell Forest
Routes range from 10 to 20 kilometres in length, and there are five in total to try. Maps of the routes can be downloaded online and there are also colour-coded stickers on lampposts along the way to keep you on track.
Cllr Chris Turrell, Executive Member for Planning and Transport said:
